Tic-Tac-Toe Dice

How to Play Tic-Tac-Toe Dice Game

Objective

Tha goal of Tic-Tac-Toe Dice game is to be the first player to cross out four numbers down or, three numbers across in a numbered tic-tac-toe grid to win. Each player plays with 2 six-sided dice and has individual grids to cross out numbers.

Gameplay

Each player takes turn to roll 2 dice once. After each roll, the player decides to cross out number(s) as per the following rules.

  • Cross out a number in the grid which is equal to the sum of the two dice. For ex, if you rolled 2 and 3. You can cross out 5.
  • Cross out 2 or more numbers which equal sum of the two dice. For ex, if you rolled 2 and 5, you can cross out 1 and 6; or 2 and 5; or 3 and 4; or 1, 2 and 4.
  • You can not cross out only one of the 2 dice. For ex, if you rolled 1 and 2, and 1 is already crossed out but 2 is available, 2 can not be crossed out alone. You can only cross out all slots totalling sum of the 2 dice or, none if at least one of those slots is not available.
  • If no slot can be crossed out, then the turn is simply passed to the next player.

Once a player has crossed out four numbers down or three numbers across, he/she wins the round. Opponent gets the penalty equal to sum of the remaining numbers not crossed out in his/her grid.

The game is played for fixed number of rounds and after the end of the final round, the player with the least penalty points wins the game.
